Frederick County draws from one of the largest, most technologically advanced labor forces with approximately 2.9 million workers in Maryland. Maryland claims the top spot in the country for the percentage of technical and professional workers in the workplace (25.7%), for the total number of doctoral scientists and engineers as a percentage of total employment (0.98%), and is first among the states in the percentage of population 25 and over with a graduate or professional degree (15.7%).

And Frederick County is reaping the benefits.

  • Frederick County had the 6th highest number of new jobs created in Maryland from 2nd Quarter 2004-2008, or 5,704 new jobs.
